The Pregnant Brain
BBC Radio 4
In this programme, we explore the work of neurologists and psychologists who are studying the changes that take place in a mother’s brain over the course of pregnancy. In particular we examine the theory of “maternal programming” which suggests that hormonal shifts in a mother’s body bring about structural changes in the brain effectively priming a woman for maternity.
